BIOGRAPHY:
Richmond A. Jones received his art education at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and at the American Academy of Art, Lill Street Ceramic Studio, University of Illinois, and Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts, in Chicago.
During his lengthy graphic design career, he worked in New York as an art director at Batten, Barton, Durstine and Osborn, J. Walter Thompson Co., Fuller Smith and Ross, Inc., and he was the president of Jones, James and Jameson, Inc. In 1970, he established Richmond A. Jones Graphics in Chicago, a graphic design studio that operated successfully for thirty years. Mr. Jones also served in the U.S. Army in Germany and received an honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant.
Searching for a new creative direction Richmond Jones began his career as a transparent watercolor painter. He and his wife have held eight two person shows at the Palette and Chisel, beginning in 2000. Since then Richmond’s work has been exhibited in numerous juried exhibitions around the country and has received many awards. His work is in private collections throughout the U.S.
